Well niche links are good, some paid links work, DMOZ is good, yahoo Directory is good, High PR links make your PR go up and .edu, .gov links are also good.

 

one of my site was pr1 for couple of month than all of sudden dropped and even un indexed by google - can any one suggest me whats wrong with the site and how to get back my Pr now.

you definitely need to spread out links to your site in relative websites to boost the page rank.
