How to improve your PR

I own a domain which started at a PR0 over the space of two years I got links pointing to it and added content to the site on a weekly basis, this was ranging from 10 links and 5 pages per week (all unique content).

After the past two years the PR has gone up to a PR6 and I expect this to go up to a PR8 in the next 6 months. (just a guesstimate!)

I have no .edu or .gov links, not much social book marking, no black hat SEO, Just pure white hat SEO, its all about consistency and good clean website code!

Anyone else built there PR up over a period of time?

    A jump from PR6 to PR8 is kinda tough :) :)
I believe you're also having decent amount of traffic because of the pure white hat SEO - that's what SEO is all about :) :)

This is pretty interesting. My blog is already up to a page rank of three in just four months. So I guess it is possible to not do anything special and get a page rank of six.

Are you aware of the fact that PR is a logarithmic thing? As in, that it gets exponentially harder to increase your PR as you rise along the ranks? A PR6 to PR8 jump is wayyy out of reach. PR6 is very nice, but well... PR is just pretty green pixels... I have a PR0 page outranking PR5 pages on its keyword. Guess PR means very little if you're not into selling links.

Going up PR takes lots of time and effort it just doesn't happen by itself. I think the guess is a bit off :)

It's quite impressive. :D To reach PR 8, you need a bunch of high PR links. And that job is going to be difficult! Best of luck!

All you can do to increase your PR is get better backlinks from authoritive sites :)

A link from a PR8-9 page will boost your site to atleast 4-5PR and such, just build on a backlink and it will eventually add up to a significant amount that your PR will increasee :)

PR6 is great. But how do you expect to get to PR8, is there any basis or that estimate. It's a huge step up.

Over the two years I have managed to get back links ranging from PR0 to PR6 websites, these are all one way links and free links as well the main source I use to find my links is a websites called http://www.directorycritic.com. Also to answer a few questions -

    - My traffic over this time has gone up on a regular basis and I'm getting about 3200+ hits a day
    - At present I am still uploading 5 pages of content and getting an average of 15 links a week

The reason for this post was to give an incite in to how a high PR can be achieved, I'm currently working on another website which is only 1 year old, started with a PR0 and is now a PR4 after a year.

Another point which I must raise is, and this is my own opinion, clean website code which is structured well also helps, following the format of h1 h2 h3 p tags has all ways worked well, I never use br tags. You just need to keep the code simple.
