Well one would think backlinks and traffic come hand in hand. But I have about 6000 uniques a day and my site is a PR2

 

That can happen in word of mouth services. Lots of traffic but little PR because not many blogs or sites about the issue/service.

To increase PR you need lots of quality backlinks, the problem is, it won't matter much until you get like a direct permanent link from a high quality website. Since that is extremely difficult in the first place, I wouldn't worry too much about PR.

 

I have 1100 backlink according to yahoo and i have completed 3month but i didnot get the pagerank.

If you ask me,I do really care about pagerank of my blogs.The backlinks are gained from social bookmarking websites.It is free and a huge way to have big networking.

 

although PR building have lost its charm in terms of SEO so I usually don't put much stress on PR building these days

But PR building is related to Getting Quality Backlinks, so Get Quality Backlinks

Beware while you do Link Building, as wrong methods of Link Building can have even negative effects on PR

Moreover, PR updates only once in 2 or 3 months

SO, you will have to wait for that period even more to know the results of your effort

 

The more links you have especially from reputable external pages, the higher your PR will be.

 

Keep errors out of your homepage / index pages
Check up your pages when you can =]

PR and keywords helps with google SEPR and if you get good SEPR then you can get traffic which will make you more money. Content is something you need to work on which is the base or shall i say center of every site.

My opinion, get many PR3 Pr4 backlinks, better than a few PR6 PR7.

 

If you want some quick results try spending your time finding some high PR backlinks. It's better than lots of low PR backlinks.

 

Don't get too hung up on Pagerank, just build more content and get good quality links..

If you have a large site, make sure you have a robots.txt file in place on the root of your domain and add a disallow entry for any page that is not needed..

Ie.. Login pages, privacy policies, terms pages, shopping carts - and any page that Google does not need to see in order to send you traffic. Couple this with a rel="nofollow" strategy on those links to preserve pagerank to the internal pages and get maximum boost to the pages that need it most.

Then seek out quality links partners to link back to your site. You can follow a strategy such as:

1. High Quality Directory Submissions
2. High Quality Article Directories
3. Submit a Video through Tubemogul.com
4. Add content to web 2.0 sites like, Squidoo, Bumpzee, Hubpages, Clearblogs
5. Setup a blog that you post to regulary & link back to pages within your site
6. Blog Comments "Beware Of No-Follow"

These are just a few strategies that should keep you busy for a while.
