Hello all, I am a self taught website programmer. I starting teaching myself approximately 6 years ago. I must admit though, I am not nearly as good as I think that I can be. I seemed to of hit a "productivity roadblock". I have not had much experience making websites for anyone other than myself just for fun. Even then, the websites that I do make are just really plain and boring. So my main question is, how should I go about improving my skills? How do I practice making my websites look better and not as boring? Does anyone have any recommendations for frameworks or tools to use to help me out? Any answer is appreciated. Thanks all, Tyler Watkins
Look around the web and pick out websites that are aesthetically pleasing. Then ask your self what is the designer/programmer doing that I am not doing. I'm convinced good programmers do not necessarily make good designers and vice versa.
So do you recommend that I basically pick one side, programming or design, and then roll with that? or should I still try to work with both?
