You have to get good back links from article posting,blog posting,bookmarking sites and also but some good links too.
Here is one example of my site which I have sold TechBlog4Fun . I never ever asked for any backlinks not done any spam like just go the another website & put my link with anchor text, insisted of wasting my time , I have written article every week. Now the site has an DA 15 . with only few follow backlinks. After purchasing this site from me the new owner who was struggled for AdSense account approval got approved account in a 5 days with this site.
Domain authority (DA) depends on the number of quality inbounds backlinks. Therefore, it also depends on site popularity. For an example, if your website has a flood of traffic and has only a few links, then your site DA might be good. So, I am trying to explain here not only quality backlinks do matter to increase DA, but also website popularity plays significant role in the same. @stylobutt there is not another way to increasing DA. To increase the domain authority, you may want to find creative methods to get your backlinks to your website on other websites that have a high DA. Remember, the quality of the sources of your back links is more important that quantity of sites that have backlinks to your website. As an option, I would recommend finding sources of paid links, articles, and/or a relevant website to trade links with.
You obviously have no idea how DA is calculated!! ... "popularity" and "branding" are not used in the formula to calculate DA
I would like to advise you some techniques that can help you to improve your domain authority: - deep linking (interlink to your pages with relevant keywords, send a lot of backlinks to a page from one page which you are linking to, link pages from other external pages like Home, About Us, use different variations of the keyword you are trying to link your internal pages, try to get high quality external links from other websites); - link diversity (it is a SEO term which is used to decide the range of different links pointing to your website. If you are trying to get similar kind of links from a site again and again, Google doessn't give much value to that page you are trying to rank on. SO it is better to diversify the links from different sites and sources, so that each link is calculated as a different entity to your targeted page); - quality content (avoid duplicate content, write fresh and genuine content, never stuff keywords into your article, grammar and spelling corrections, content for user (not for search engines), never host too many ads or promotional links); - be social (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Stumble); - let it age (the more content you add to your website, the more popularity it gains in long run. Concentrate on the quality content and backlinks to improve the site DA slowly).
