Hi, I just wanted to ask how you can improve click through rates ? I have a site at http://www.weight-loss-discovery.com that had 78 page impressions today (it doesn't get that much traffic yet) and no clickthroughs. My guess is that the topic of the site - Hoodia - is not that popular ? Maybe I should have made the site about weight loss in general ? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks very much! Ken
It may not be the topic per se. Somebody coming to your weight loss site would probably be interested in something like Hoodia. 78 page impressions is hard to determine whether or not you click through rate is good or bad. When the page impressions are that low, the CTR can vary greatly. The same thing has happened to me as well. One day I'll get 100 page impressions and 0 clicks, while the next day I'll get 2 page impressions and 1 click. You'll probably start to see things even out as your site gets more traffic and becomes more established.
A big part of it can also be add placement. go into the reviews section and ask some experts to take a look at your site. maybe there is a better spot you could place the adds..also like stated above, play with the link color
i dont think 78 impressions is enough to assume anything. you should wait until about 300 a day and then start making changes
you should put the first ad where the picture of that bottle is. It would pop-up into one's eye faster
ad placement, ad color,(blending) color rotator,(reducing ad blindness) and more unique visitors all of these factors can increase your CTR
I personally noticed that unless the content of your site completely matches with the ads that are displayed on the site, it is really hard to score good CTR. I first started out my blog website with 6.% CTR, but as I started to write on various/diverse topics the CTR declined to nearly 1 %. Now what I am doing is testing the ad locations, and also seeing if surrounding the main good content with ads work or not. So far it is giving me 2. % CTR as a result. But nearly all the adwords on my blog seems to be less than a dime.
it is not much traffic, the click trough rate is not relevant, but you should get some clicks. Your website is looking like a MFA ( made for adsense ) website. My suggestion is to remove the ads from the center of the page, and put it under the content, it is more probably to click on ads after the visitor finish the article. When a visitor see for the first time your website, they will not like to navigate away from your page, he want to read your content first. Put the ads in the middle or at the bottom of content area. Also, you should change the layout, to show left or right ads. But for now, i suggest you to concentrate on your content, and to get traffic.
You can use images next to your ads, that are NOT related to the content of the ad. I have found this works wonders. However, google are strict on this, and state that you are neither allowed to have the image next to the ads without a border between the two, and images must NOT be relating to the ad itself.
What images are we talking about? Sorry, I am like a newbie in this field. I just wanna make sure I don't do this google TOS violation.
*** get more traffic and do a plan to change the ad layout every 3 days and see what works the best ***
Just a small bar of 4 images next to an ad block. It takes the appearance that the ad is relating to the image, and does imcrease click rates. But google states the images must NOT be related to the content of the ads.
Hi, What does "not related to the ads" mean - dies it mean you can't have an ad promoting a product that is in the google ad (same url), or does it mean if the ad is about weight loss, you can't use weight loss images (like a person losing weight) ? What is the best source to buy pictures for websites ? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.
For example, if your site was a DVD related site, then the ads would, naturally be about DVD's. So, you would be unable to place images of DVD's next to the ad block. At least, this is how I understand it works.
