How to identify click fraud. From the past 3 or 4 days, i am getting high page ctr at one particular time. Within a range of 2 or 3 hours. The page ctr rate is nearly 30 %. and by the end of the day it becomes normal say abt 5 or 6%.I get an average of 2000 uniques per a day. So its difficult to find from which ip i am getting high number of clicks. I dont know if any click fraud is going on. And most of that traffic comes from different forums. Is there any way to find click fraud. Or should i mail google asking to check them if there is any click fraud going on.
That time range could be peak hours for USA probably. Mailing google isnt always a good idea. I've known people getting banned for contacting them about strange activity on their account. Then again, maybe less people would be banned if they did contact them.
You can try using Adlogger. It can detect fraud clicks, and you will be able to check where your ads are clicked, what IP is your clicker, etc. It's free.
he's working on an upgraded version (i was helping with the testing a bit) - i *thought* he still had an older version to download.. if you cant find it, send him an email or make a post in the Adlogger forum and i'm sure he'll make it available.. if not, i think i have a copy of the devel version, which seems to be working fine.
LucasMS is right. there is nothing in the TOS that even HINTS that there is anything wrong with using Adlogger..
Anyway Kris my honest opinion is just email them and ask them. Being upfront always wins you brownie points. Honesty is generally the best policy.
I dont mind letting them know about my situation. But here i am only suspecting. So they do not provide any information, further, they start observing more carefully, at that time, even accidental clicks may become fraudivalent. What u say ?
funny, I also got the same reply and when I emailed them again, I got this reply Hope this helps. I also notice abnormal CTR in one of my websites.. I got 20% CTR, almost everyday!
i think google should make a protection system for webmasters. limiting the number of paid clicks from an ip address may be a solution. or the webmaster may limit the impression of ads for a session and put an alternate ad instead. or limiting the clicks but idont know wheter counting clicks is possible or not. but a solution from google would be much better.
