How to host website and email at my company server

    Hi all,
    i just have a query from 1 of my collegue this afternoon, this question make me fell interesting to look for the answer! any one here can help me?

    Question:
    i have a powerful server at company which also have a fix IP address, how can i host the company website and email into my company server?
    What kind of software need to install?

    For what i know is,i should set the DNS in my domain control panel to my company fix address, so that any one who access my domain will come to my server, but what kind of software (to host website and email)and what kind of procedure i need to take?

    It's cheap and easy to use. Set your domain's name servers to use DNS Made Easy's name servers and then just configure your records to point the domain at your company's IP.

    All you really need is apache + php, then some type of mail server software (sendmail, exchange, openmail, etc.). With a fixed external IP, setting it up is EXTREMELY easy.

    For software I recommend Apache 2.0 and PHP 5 and mySQL 5 if you need a database. You can install those on any Windows OS. If you're new to this I don't recommend using Linux. It's unnecessary.

    i am new to this, i am using windows at my company server, ok..i get some idea already, just install apache, my sql and php, i can test run at my local machine with http://127.0.0.1. my website can run success

    to double comfirm again. ist i change the dns setting at my domain control panel to my company fixed IP... then it will done?

    if your server computer has it's own IP then just pointing the dns entry to it will get it public. Otherwise you'll have to use a NAT to forward requests to port 80 to whatever local network IP the server computer has.
