I am looking to have a video streaming website that shows videos, but I dont want those videos on youtube or anywhere, I want them in my hosting account. Is this possible and what player would I use or what html to play the video. Thanks in advance for any replies (as I really dont have a clue how to do this )

Just get a video convertor that converts to flv (so many out there for free), and get an flv player like JW Player (but he charges if you use it commercially, you can use the free one that comes from adobe - it's on their site but it lacks a lot of features, it just plays a video - no special features, no fullscreen, etc - but hey its free.
A inexpensive solution for streaming from a webcam is win//dows media encoder. Its packed with features of encoding and is free. It doesn't generate you html though, but you can easily google some good examples. If you want you and your users to display/upload videos(you//tube clone), a inexpensive way is vs//hare. I think its 12 bucks and easy to customize.
