How to host a domain name with your VPS

    I just got a VPS hosting package from oplink and also all I see is a terminal.
    Can someone tell me or guide me on how to host a domain name on a VPS with only a terminal to install all stuffs like lamp and all.

    I am a newbie in this.Can someone help me with this?

    I believe that it will be a good idea to contact web hosting provider's support team and ask them to explain you..

    I contacted the Hosting Provider and they told they enabled Reverse DNS and added the Domain name.
    Here are the Replies Which I got from them
    Now after that I asked them Can I have more than 1 Domain Name hosted with them,they gave me this answer
    I dont know what he meant by that and I dont know where to proceed from here.Can someone help me out

    Why don't you go with a Managed VPS Hosting Service provider rather then struggling yourself with such tech issues. Also try to get WHM/cPanel with your server which will help you to manage your server effectively.

    Actually I got a free VPS offer from one VPS company,ie why I choosed that.
    Is there any Guide which explains how to host a Website or Run Scripts on a hosted VPS
    That would be great

    Assuming you're on CentOS machine, do this in SSH:

    yum install httpd
    yum install php
    yum install mysql-server mysql
    service httpd start
    service mysqld start

    And then put your website's file on /var/www/html

    That's the very basic thing you can do, however I agree with everyone else, that you shouldn't use an unmanaged vps without any control panel if you're not an expert in system administration. Better to switch to a managed provider or purchase control panel (like cPanel or DirectAdmin) license.

    try kloxo it's a free control panel that is similar to cpanel it's easy to install and use
