You can't hide. The email address would ensure a level of transparency as the one who donates knows where the money goes to and can contact you if anything is suspicious.

Anyone can make up a name or even use a well-known name as a guise and I am sure they don't want that. If you have nothing to hide, there is nothing to worry about.

You can always create a unique email address exclusively for this donation.

You might need a Business Account for that then you can set up a business name.

Oh no. If you did not verify the account then you will experience some limits and they will be more suspicious about your account. Ultimately, you will need to verify it.

When you use the account, you have to be sure that your country is also paypal supported or else you may face problem. Officially speaking you can only register the account under your own name and you are not allowed to share it.

Just be careful and be prepared to have the account suspended when you least expected it.

if they limit it: try to fix it on the phone, otherwise you will need to send a lot of paper proof.
once i accessed my pp account in thailand, coming back to germany they wanted to get all the faxes...

They can take your money as you have lied when you signed up for the Paypal account. An unverified account is unverified and they cannot confirm if you are real or not. Paypal cannot stand dishonest people and they have the law to protect them.

You cannot sign up using details which is not yours, you cannot share an account, you cannot sign up from a country which is not support by paypal.

If you're only worried about hiding your email address in the link on the page you have the link on, then you can use a site like http://tinyurl.com to convert and mask the link with the email addy. If you're wanting to hide the email address once they make it to PayPal to make the donation then I think there isn't anything you can do.

The main down side to using something like tinyurl is if someone pays attention to the URL of the link when they mouse over it then they might be less inclined to click on it since it doesn't look like it's going to PayPal.

Seriously you're going to charge the guy $10 for a 2 word explanation? I'll give everyone the answer for free: Business Account

It's really that simple. I was having the same exact issue, it took all of 5 minutes if that to upgrade to a Business Account, and it was free. It then replaces your email up top on the Donate page with your business name! Easy as that! I realize this is a very old post, but I at least wanted to post a solution, since I just now searched google to find a solution for this.

Alex, I do have to share my opinion. Discussion forums are awesome because they are a bunch of people helping each other because they want to share their knowledge and help another person, not to make money at it. If everyone charged for answers, there would be no more discussion forums. Everyone gets paid back anyway for posting a solution by one day getting help for their own problem. Please think about this for a minute at least. I'm very thankful for all of the free advice I've gotten from the internet, and want to pay it back by giving it.

    Thanks,
    Paul
