How to have Streaming Videos in website..

    A friend of mine wants to have Streaming Videos in his site and has asked me for help... Can any one tel how can we put Streaming Videos in web pages?

    I think that you should look for real player streaming solutions :)

    Or you could try Flash Communication server. Flash also has a nice tool called sorenson spark which lets you embed movie players in your websites.

    Whatever you do, keep a watch out for your bandwidth. Video files are big, so the more people that view them, the more bandwidth will be eaten up. Check with you hosting provider. You don't want to have people visit your site only to see the "Bandwidth Exceeded" error message!

    Overall Flash will be the best way to go. It is cross browser and every browser has it installed already. If you use flash 8, client side updating is done (on the PC anyway) without restarting the computer.

    If the video is short enough, the download time will not be that long. But you can always host the video on external hosting company like influxis - I use them. and then the download is instantaneous.

    Quicktime, Real (ugh!) and other media formats are not fast or have as great quality as Flash.
