How to have just a post Summary on index???

How can I make it so it doesn't show the whole post on the index of my WP blog, I want it to just have a summary and the reader has to click the link to read the full post.

How can I do this?

 

Why don't you just use the "more" tag after the paragraph you want shown
on the front page?

 

insert the above tag into your post wherever you wish a 'read full post' link to be displayed.

 

And will that make the rest go onto the new page?

 

Yes more tag will publish only the part of post before that tag. Complete post will be published on post page. (thats for wordpress).
But this has one disadvantage.
If you are publishing the full feed, then feed will have only summary part.

 

WP has an inbuilt more icon in the editor when you write a post. There are plugins available too if you don't want to manually insert every time, but the plugin will simply add the tag after the first paragraph

 

I use evermore plugin for it.

<!--more--> will also cut your feeds to summary if u use some where in the post....so use some plugins for doing that instead of <!--more-->

 

Yes, even i have this knowledge that if we use the more tag they dont accept in rss feeds.

Can we have that kind of PLUGINS?
