I am in a bit of a pickel here. I am trying to run a campaign on one of the very compettitive niches. weight loss.

I have over 80,000 keywords that are searched 1200 or more every month.
most keywords are 3 phrases or more.

But I am having a hell of a time with the quality score. what can I do to get my quality scores up.

    thanks

You'd have to have like 4000 ad groupings at 20 kw's each.

    1) Group keywords by relevance (Blue widget, Cheap Blue widgets, free blue widgets)
    2) Keep keywords in adgroups under 20 keywords
    3) Use the Adwords tool to get this done quickly http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/

    Hope this helps

Also, don't mix your keywords. What I mean is don't have widgets and [widgets] in the same ad group.

Why are you not using broad match to cut down your 80000 keyword list?

First do what's said above... then start cutting down on some keywords.

    80,000 is way too much!

Unless you have a huge team there's no way you can control all this. (Plus weight loss keywords are very expensive).

Focus on like 1000 for now and gradually increase when you have ROI.

if the campaigns have been running for a while then extract all the keywords that are generating traffic. Of the 80k keywords I am sure there is probably one several hundred or somewhere about 1k keywords actually getting impressions and clicks.

Extract the ones that are getting impressions and clicks for a period of 30 days and then 1 to 1 adgroup all the keywords

Then write focused text ads to increase QS

A 1000 keywords? Is this what you would recommend for an average campaign?
This is a topic that is not widely discussed. But when it is, it differs a whole lot:)
