make sure they know exactly what the site is about in 2 seconds then once they know give them something free then after that get them to be curious as to what is behind each link this will keep them there longer
The look of the site isn't the problem, although you should give them more interesting, eye-opening info to read before they click on the link to read the rest of it. It's not a bad-looking site at all. Do you know what your bounce rate is? It's not uncommon to get a high bounce rate. Even the best sites sometimes get that. It's typical. Do realize though that search engine traffic is one of the worst. That accounts for a high bounce rate as they jump from site to site, many times just out of boredom. I don't even mess with search engines. Also know that if you advertise or submit articles and whatnot to the wrong sites, you will get a lot curiosity seekers. In addition, if you talk about the nice-looking ladies there, you will, of course, get a lot of hard-up guys. They will look around see nothing, and then quickly back out. But they, like search-engine traffic, make for lousy customers anyway. Create some good ads, and do your research on where to place them. If you haven't done so, that is.
If the content is sharp enough the visitors will stay. I know that sounds general but you need to improve the quality of either your writing, video's, images or all.
I read some research regarding users of websites and the basic summary was that a user will scan from left to right starting at the top of your page. They generally make their decision whether or not to stick around within 3 seconds. A nice graphic image or logo in the top left hand corner is proven to help attract your visitors eye and make it more likely they will stick around. You can see how I put this to use on my website flipping website.
