How to give free eBook to those who subscribe to blog via FeedBurner

    Hi,

I have a blog (http://www.make-money-online-now.biz/) and I have a box to allow people to subscribe to the blog via FeedBurner. This means that when I create a new blog entry they get emailed by FeedBurner.

My question is this, I want to offer subscribers a free eBook for joining. Traditionally I would have to use an autoresponder but I don't want to build a list per se, but rather have people notified about new posts on the blog. If I used a list I would need to double post, once to the blog and once to the list.

So what I need is one of the following:

A list which will send messages based on new entries in the blog (via RSS?) and allow me to send one or more messages when they join to give them their free gift.

    or

A way to give people a free gift once they have subscribed to FeedBurner (or similar, I don't mind which service).

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Gary

I guess I'm not really looking for a script, but more of a service which will do the things listed above... I guess what I am looking for is a service like FeedBurner but one that provides a custom landing page for people who have subscribed.

You should just offer it like mine, so they can choose whether they want it or not, my free Terrific Traffic report at my site http://smallfishbigmoney.com You can choose to get the report or not. It is by far the easiest way to do it. But I am sure there is a way to do it your way.

phplist is a free mailing list software that allows you to maintain a mailing list. That is users can subscribe, unsubscribe and update their preferences, you can send messages to users etc. It also has the feature to send messages based on updates to an rss feed. However while it does have all the features you want it is complicated to set up. If you want to take a crack at it then check out http://www.phplist.com/.

If you want a commercial service then just do a search for mailing list host

I for one have only just started using feedburner and I see that they don't allow you to see the emails of users that have signed up? I guess that puts your hard earned and valuable subscriber base entirely in the hands of a third party. Its the price you pay for ease of use.

    Thanks for the replies...

I have found a site called Zookoda... They offer the ability to set your own confirmation landing page and your own subscribed landing page... My account needs to be verified by their staff so I can't actually test it right now but I will keep you all informed of what I found out.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Use Feed Flare in Feedburner - that's supposed to do it :)

Looking at FeedBurner I couldn't see a way to do it... Have you actually done it?

Zookoda seems to be working but two weird things:

    1) Google is marking the emails from them as SPAM

    2) I am starting to get out of office replies from people which seem to be from emails they have got from Zookoda on mybehalf but my "list" only has one person on it... me...

    Anyone else used zookoda?

    Thanks,

    Gary

It would appear Zoodoka IS spam. Can't say for sure since I haven't used them. but it looks like they grabbed all the email addresses from your address book and spammed them.

Sorry for you. You might take a look at PHPlist. It's pretty easy to install especially if you have a host that offers Fantastico. You can send email with attachments if you want subscribers to have the ebook right away. Only complaint is that PHPlist has a sig that they attach to the email. You can get rid of it if you know PHP ... I'm still trying to learn it.

    Good luck.
