How to get websites signed up with me before launch day.

    Hi,

I am currently in the process of setting up a new online business, adquick.co.uk. The website could be compared to sites like adbrite.com, a place where website owners can sell ad space and where potential advertisers can browse the Ad Quick website and purchase ad space.

The advice i am after is this,

When i launch the website, i want to have websites already signed up who are using Ad Quick to sell ad space on their websites, and i am trying to find the best way to get website owners interested in using our service before we actually launch.

Do you think it is acceptable for me to just email or call companies and try and talk them into using my website. The reason why i am not sure about this, is becauase at no point do i want to be associated with Spam.

My website will offer better rates for website owners compared to Adbrite, and also website owners will get their money much quicker.

How do you think i should do this and get websites signed up before i launch?

    Thanks for any help.

what do you mean better rates, a higher percentage cut of what you take in? If so what will the percentage cut be?

well whenever a website owner sells a ad on their site through Ad Quick, i will take a cut. My rates haven't been set yet, but compared to adbrites 70-30% mine will be in the region of 75-85% to the website owner and 15-25% to Ad Quick.

I would try to offer an incentive to the early users (like a bigger cut). Then contact some prominant bloggers and pitch the idea, hoping they will blog about it.

that sounds good. How would you go about finding blogs that would cover a story like this about my site? what would you do and say to them?

I would hope anyone creating a new ad network would be "plugged in" enough to know what were relevant blogs in the industry. Or at least know how to use a blog search engine like technorati to find them.
