    More than likely the wrong section, and all the information you need is most likely already here, also you need to specify what type of site you own etc etc...

    Well I suggest inviting some people you have met on other forums to post on yours, post on other forums with a signature link, yahoo answers, also look up (at dp) "how to market a forum" or something similar.

    Edit: I also noticed a blog category. If used correctly you can gain alot of traffic through article marketing.

    getting backlinks from other popular sites
    SEO
    advertising
    email marketing
    RSS directory submitting
    yahoo answers
    directory submissions
    social bookmarkings

    traffic is money - without traffic there is no money
