How to get traffic while still keeping affiliate ads on my site

I own a site with AdSense throughout. How best to generate traffic for it, without it affecting my affiliate ad program? Sometimes you can get penalized for buying traffic, so I am not going to do that for this site. But any suggestions are appreciated.

direct your traffic to a page that does NOT have adsense on it. Then if the bought visitors click any links on your site that direct them to the pages that have adsense on it, they di it by their own will, so these are pure natural visits

    Another solution I use.
If you do know the URL of the paid traffic site, then you can use adsense filter tools to hide adsense.
So you will not get penalty at all.

The idea of atxsurf is smart. I would go one step further and give them some incentive to visit your main site. It is obvious that you will see more visitors with this approach.

OK: So my site deals with "humor" and "images" in general....and to be even more specific - cartoons
So basically, I'd set up a neutral page (with no AdSense) link it or "point" visitors to my main index page here. And my next questions then are:

#1. That URL I'd create would be pasted onto a high traffic page relating to the subject matter of Humor? Or Images?
    Or all three?
#2. What would 100,000 visitors cost for a one-month experiment?
#3. Am I reading into all of this right?

BTW, a buyer would get to preview the potential page that a link appears on, right?

Yes, this way people would proceed from neutral (landing) page to your adsense page only if they would want to

    #1. Rather humor topic
#2. i sell at $15 per 10,000 real human visits, discount for large orders. The automated traffic is much cheaper but will not guarantee the visitor will be actively surfing when your page is shown.
#3. Yes. Because you expect them to click to proceed further into your site those have to be real human (non automated visits). Your landing page should be very catchy and make people want to click - for example put nothing but a 1st part of a funny cartoon with a message to click on it to see the rest, or some kind of "You won a prize" kind of thing.

Yes, you will know where the traffic will be directed from

I have MARKETED my site before...printed business cards, commented on blogs, offering a daily image for other webmasters that acts as an auto-linkback to my URL, created my own RSS feeds, participate in forums, put my links in signatures, on Facebook, LinkedIn, submit to directories, written articles for article directories and more. ALL of these elements combined are extremely time consuming...I am just one person. So how do blogs come along that instantly get 100K visitors out of thin air, or? I have been doing this 7 years and my traffic is "modest" at most. My Google analytics shows maybe 4000 visitors a day if I read that right. Sometimes less. My site is unique I believe. So don't undertand what the hell to do except just toss in the towel unless someone else has any real constructive criticism aside from saying "marketing"...I need in depth quantitative concepts, ideas and real ideas or instructions as to how real traffic can be generated.
