Alright…. so you have a blog or website. Thats great! But what is so great about having one if no one is able to see what you have to offer? 1. Article Marketing - You can write articles and submit them to article directories. But why write new articles when you have content on your blog or website? All you have to do is modify a few simple things in the current posts you have, and just submit those. An article directory site that I highly recommend is EzineArticles.com 2. Link Exchanges - Go around the web and look for blogs or sites that may be similar to yours. Contact the owner and ask if they would like to share links or do a “link tradeâ€. This will give you targeted hits on your site, which is very valuable! 3. Write a free e-book - You are probably thinking “thats a lot of work!â€. Well it can be… however the great thing about this is… you can put a subscription form on your website and have people subscribe to your site, with the incentive of giving away a free book. The e-mails you collect can all go towards a newsletter. Another thing is people will often hand out your book to others (inside your book you can include links to your site). 4. Educate Yourself with SEO - Search engines can be one of our main traffic drivers to our site. We can’t always rely on link trades. Gain some knowledge on optimizing your blog or website so the search engines crave it. click below to read the rest http://eroker.com/2008/04/03/how-to-get-traffic-to-your-blog/
...and if you're just starting out the blog, the quickest way to get more readers is, as one of your steps suggests, just buying some cheap traffic with adwords while your articles, link exchanges, ebooks and search engine rankings are working for the long term.
Nice article and it covers the methods that I use. I would add that you don't have to necessarily write an ebook. You can give a free ebook away from your site or one that you have bought with giveaway rights.
Nice, thanks. I am a blog/IM n00b and those are some very helpful tips. If you could go into detail about RSS, Digg, Stumble and those other few types of methods, that would be awesome!
