How To Get Traffic From Blog Comments

Do you have any advice on how to get traffic from blog comments?

    Two things I already focus on;

    1. Blogs within my niche with fairly high traffic
    2. Adding comments with value (not just saying "great post")

Any other tips, what do you do?

You basically covered it, include a link to your website in the "website" field of the comment form.

You may find it easier to get your comment accepted if you make reference to a past blog post when commenting on the current post.

    Some basic tips:
    1. Be one of the very first people to comment.
    - People might visit your link if you have a good comment
    2. Comment on high traffic blogs
    - You can probably get some traffic too
    3. Comment on blogs with "Top commentator" list
    - Site wide presence usually
These points might help you get some visits from your comments.

IMO, blog commenting just isn't worth the time you put into it. After all, it takes alot of time to find related dofollow blogs, and you never know if your comment is actually going to be approved. And if it has a link or your keyword as the name, the chances of it being approved go down dramatically. There are plenty of blog owners who refuse to accept any comment with a link in it, or any comment that uses a keyword instead of a name. Plus, when's the last time YOU clicked on a link that you saw in a blog comment? There are very few people who do.

To me, it seems like a far better use of your time would be to do some guest blogging. That way, you can get your content and your link in front of a targeted audience. If they're impressed by your guest post, they can click on your link at the bottom and check out your site. Far more people are going to read a guest post than a random blog comment (again, assuming your comment is even approved)

You've got a very interesting point. I get fairly good traffic from comments, but I believe that I would get a lot more from guest blogging. On the other hand, if you participate by leaving comments it's probably easier to get your guest posts accepted, or what do you think?

Not necessarily. There are actually alot of blogs out there that welcome guest bloggers. Just searching on Google could turn up a bunch of blogs in your niche that are looking for guest posters. Usually, you have to contact the blogger and tell them what topic you want to guest post on.

I actually discovered MyBlogGuest.com the other day. I haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, but you can set up a profile and search their databases for guest blogging opportunities. I think they have it set up so that bloggers can also contact you if they're looking for a guest post.

It is so simple to post great content, just make sure you are the first comment because the first comment always gets read.

If you can't get the top comment, reply to the top comment so your words/link will appear closer to the top.

Nicole, guest blogging is a phenomenal way to gain more exposure for your blog!! It also opens doors for networking opportunities as you never know where that relationship could lead to.

I actually wrote an entire blog post on this very topic. One of my favorite (and extremely effective way) for more traffic is sharing my link on my social media sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, even You Tube). On Facebook, I share my blog post with groups, my personal groups, and of course on my wall. I make sure though, that I'm interactive in the groups that I post on so that Im not spammy & building my brand.

With YouTube, I create a "mini" video of my post. This is double traffic because now my post is on my blog & YouTube. I make sure to include the URL to the actual blog post in the description area of YouTube for the video (in fact, its the first thing listed). In my video, I direct people to my blog post to check out the rest of the lesson. It's a win-win (and elevates traffic tremendously)!!

These are just a few yet proven strategies that I use!! Great discussion question!

Basically you get back link via comments if back link is no follow we can get referral traffic but if it is do follow its helpful in both referral and organic. if Blog has high traffic then its easy to drive some traffic to your link. As search engine spider crawl the link you well get organic traffic.

I think that guest blogging can give you more visitors than just commenting. A lot of readres read posts but never read comments.
Good comments can attract blog owner's attention, and it will be easy to make a guest post.

There may be more value in posting blog comments in terms of getting links to your site than in getting traffic to it.

The number and quality of links which exist to your site are an important aspect in determine search engine results pages results. So it is a worthwhile exercise, especially if you are posting exclusively to dofollow sites.

Don't count on a lot of traffic coming to your site through these comment post links. Whatever you get is gravy.

As with any other link, you need to give people a reason to click. Even a really great, insightful comment which is the first one posted which includes a link to your site will be not enough motivate people to click. You must concisely tell people why they will benefit if they do click.

    Nice answer!
If you need backlinks, comment only dofollow blogs (google.com/search?q=dofollow+blogs). If you need visitors do high quality comments on related blogs.

Either guest post ( if the owner lets you ) or use KeywordLuv blogs to help you with your search engine rankings.

    Hi there,

Actually, according to Google,it doesn't depend on the niche. So you dont have to go look for blogs similar to your niche to post a comment on.
Second of all,try finding do follow comments. These comments are what Google just LOVES.
Third,90% of your backlinks are not indexed. So whats the use if you are backlinking and Google doesn't even know?Use some Backlink Indexer such as Scrapebox or some other one. They will help you index your backlinks so that Google knows. When I got to know this,I jumped from page 3 to page 1.

These are some great tips you can use.
