Correct, but the Yahoo! Loves links from content rich websites like Article directories and bloggers.

Backlinks are much less meaningful to Yahoo than to Google. It's a common misconception that you just need to get backlinks.

With Yahoo, it is much more sensitive to on page optimizations. So you want to focus on those.

What I know is you can get good rankings in Yahoo on the basis of on page optimization. Back links are also a criteria but does not pay too much for Yahoo. Google give more value on off page while Yahoo do the reverse. Submitting in Yahoo directory is not of that much use IMHO.

I have 100 text pages, 90% original [only a few lists cut/pasted, was unavoidable for me], stuffed with keywords literally and am almost invisible in Yahoo but show well in Google. Site is only 1 month old, with totally pathetic backlinks...so I can only assume that it is or the "pay to play" thing?

Yahoo is more on content. Provide your site with good content. But don\'t forget to gain backlinks too.

so everyone here says Yahoo gives more value to onpage optimization but WHAT kind of onpage optimization? Like Google? Provide better keyword density and more relevancy, that's what you mean with onpage optimization or Yahoo gives more value if we write more words in our web page?

It may help regardless of the advice already posted here, to read How to Optimize for Yahoo!

It is reasonably comprehensive and covers quite a lot not mentioned in this thread at all.

Looks like yahoo takes time to index new websites. My new site also has around 60 backlinks in yahoo. and it isn't indexed yet
