Would anyone please be able to tell me how to obtain these fading effects in Photoshop / Fireworks? I know there is a fade image tool in the "Creative" section in Fireworks, but its for the whole image. What I need is rounded fading (or wherever I want it on the photo in whatever shape - so say if I draw a squiggly line, then fading around that line on the image) etc on certain parts of the image. Would anyone please be able to tell me how to obtain these effects? Many thanks.
There are two ways to do this. 1. Use the Burn tool. 2. Create new layer with a gradient, #000000 to transparent with transparent over the image. Set the layer to OVERLAY and adjust the transparancy. Trim the layer around the image to suite your needs.
you just want some vignette in your photo, i use lightroom for basic stuff like that but Rays way will get ya there too, you should check out soem free plug ins for PS for some great vignette effects in suite is a cool plug in
Yup, burn tool on a separate layer is the one of the options. If you want faded areas to look proportionally, you can also: *create separate layer and then with the selection tool draw elipse, *add feather if needed, *then invert selection and fill with black, using paint bucket, *lower opacity of the layer if you want still see some details through faded area.
maybe you can try for masking technique, add new layer filled it black, ste masking and erase the black color you didn't needed.
Very simple. Select the Eraser Tool (E), a large-ish brush with its hardness level set at 0%, and jump in.
yup!Very simple. Select the Eraser Tool (E), a large-ish brush with its hardness level set at 0%, or 10 its up to not harder and jump in slowly.lol!
erase tool will only soft fade. burn tool on shades will bring out the overlap without a blurred edge.
For uniform effects, it's better to use the blur filter and masks. You could add imperfections to make it more "natural" with a brush later.
