Hi, I know this has something to do with very popular websites, but when and how can you get this? I know traffic is the key to success, but is there something else I need to know?
Its called sitelinks, you get them when your site has alot of authority and is well aged. Most of all it's highly relevant. Takes atleast 6months to get them.
My website is 2 years old, has a PR of 4/10 and has the first position for several relevant keywords. Still don't have those sitelinks.
Go here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ Get your site in there, add a site map check your site's links at the webmaster central in a week or more after adding teh sitemap, you'll see the sitelink status there. In my case, my blog has sitelinks at the webmaster central but nothing at the search engine.. I think to myself Okay i just got sitelinks! Woo! lets check google..
No sitelinks at the webmaster central. I have added a sitemap more than a year ago I hope my new website will get sitelinks. Thanks for the info!
I don't know if there's anything special that you need to do. Mine showed up just one day without me doing anything to it.
It's got bog-all to do with any mythical 'authority' A clear structure will do it. Google are giving them to as many sites as possible, with most of them it only shows up when the name of the site is searched for. Remember - (a good thing to remember in general) - search engines priority is making results good and useful for searchers. Not webmasters.
Only 1+ years old site get the Site Links. You will have to build a quality site. When it becomes established and trusted in Google - the Site Links will appear. Site Links has nothing to do with internal linking!
The more content you have, the better. Subdirectories help, too, as they present a logical structure to Google.
Websites need to prove to be of high quality for the sitelinks and then Google will decide over selecting the relevant and quality ones to list.
I really think you should tell google that it has nothing to do with internal linking, because they seem to think it does - QUOTE Our systems analyze the link structure of your site to find shortcuts that will save users time and allow them to quickly find the information they're looking for. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=47334&query=sitelinks&topic=&type=
I got them for the name of my site. Unfortunately a competitor snagged sitelinks for the keyword I'm targeting. Does anyone know if it's even possible to take the #1 spot from a competitor once they have sitelinks?
