I am getting into this type field and I am looking for some advice. What I am looking to do currently is start a few niche sites, learn how to design, code, and market these sites so I can learn the ins and outs. I would like to eventually monetize these sites and find work in this field. I am not really sure where to get started. Lately I have been designing some mock sites and doing a lot of research on marketing and design. Also, what is it called when you design and run a website, I know 10 years ago you would have been called a webmaster? What I am thinking of doing is contacting and working with local businesses and developing websites for them, so I can start to build a portfolio. Any advice would be greatly appreceiated, I feel a bit overwhelmed.
