    Hi ,

Im in Ireland , and by default Google brings up www.google.ie..

When I search , results change , I presume its because of the DC im connecting to?

Im promoting a site for a friend and its not a .IE ( DOTIE) domain , so I was curious as to how I can get the site listed for "Pages from Ireland".....

Ive had a look around and cant find anything on this... Im obviously not looking hard enough but will continue searching in this great resource!!

    Thanks again all

    Sparks!

I had always wondered about this, but never wondered enough to go out of my way to thoroughly research it until someone specifically asked me to build links for them for a particular country. Logically speaking, country related results show a variation of non country based domains and conventional TLDs (.com.net.org etc.). If they strictly took domains with the country suffixes, you wouldn't see .com domains ranking 1st for keywords in a country specific search engine.

From my experience, it comes down to a few things that I'm reasonably sure about:

    1. Links from sites in that country (i.e. links from .ie domains will help you rank in google.ie)

    2. Your domain having the .ie suffix gives it a fairly large advantage (but it can still be outranked by .com and other domains)

I don't usually post esoteric or unproven methods, but I've also heard that preference may possibly be given to sites hosted within the specific country you're targeting, but I havn't found anything that supports or negates this claim. Additionally, having the country name you're targeting's keywords occur throughout the page of your site may boost its relevance in country specific engines.

If I'm incorrect in anything, let me know! I'm interested in knowing this too.
