How to get search traffic from Yahoo?

    Hey,

I have a number of websites that pull decent traffic from Google. I can't figure out for the life of me why I get almost zero traffic from yahoo or other search engines.???

I have added all of the sites to Yahoo Site explorer with a sitemap. I have thousands of Yahoo backlinks and pages indexed, yet I get like 10 Yahoo search hits per month for each site?

mate, i suggest you are targetting keyword which have 1. low competition & high searches per month. Usually it long tail keyword or low hanging fruit keyword. Create the blog or post about the keyword you pick.

The basics of SEO efforts to rank for your targeted keywords applies to all major search engines. It means you have higher chances to rank your page on the three major search engines with the same search term with slight difference in the results positions.

If you want to know how this works, go to all 3 major SE's Google, Yahoo, Bing and search on any keyword phrase(minimum 3 words) and you can find the top 3 ranking websites listed on the rest two search engines either on the top 3 places or in the top 10. Good luck!

Firstly decide, with which keywords you want to target audiences to your site. For this you have to finalize keywords according to your site. You can take help of various free keyword tool which show the maximum searches on keywords of last few months.

I just don't think your going to see much search volume from yahoo. I would target a popular keyword phase if you wanted a decent amount of traffic for what you would get from a long-tail keyword in google.

Why worry about Yahoo traffic if there are a handful of people out there using it. I mean if you can get tonnes of traffic from Google and other sources, you need not worry about Yahoo or Bing.
