    You could contact webmasters with similar sites and ask for a link exchange or ask to purchase a link from them.

    BTW: this forum also has a buy/sell marketplace that includes links.

    make sure your website is worth going to. then people will link to it naturally.

    Submit to directories as a starting point once your site is online. There are 1000s of free directories, and even more with paid for links (usually for higher PR).
