Hey guys, My keyword has been around for 2 years and the number 1 site is pretty popular. I have been working on a site for my second month and I am number 2 already. So I do get quiet a lot of organic traffic. The keyword is "crysis 2 forums". My website is www.crysis2forums.com What do I have to do go above www.incrysis.com I have more backlinks then them. I think my website has been optimized using SEO and looks better compared to theres. Any hints?
From where I am checking, your site holds positions 4-6 for that keyword. The first two sports are held by incrisis.com, with forum.ea.com directly below them. You've achieved good results in two months, and I am sure your EMD ("exact match domain") helps a lot. You have a pretty good chance of getting to #1. However, incrysis.com is a very tough competitor for you. It has a lot more links than you do. It is peculiar though that it's impossible to see those links by using conventional tools such as Yahoo Site Explorer. It is, let us say, highly curious. I have a hunch about how this is done and I don't mind looking into it further, but I prefer not to discuss this in the forum. Send me a private message if you like.
When I check it your site rank #4 in my SERP's. I think the advantage of the #1 is the old of the site. The #1 site is already 4 years old while yours is only 2 years. This also matters..
It seems it needs age more than anything. I've seen a few of my sites rank higher as time goes on without any help on my part. whatever you do good luck with it
Have you looked at your site in market samurai and checked your links and the competitors? If you have the time it would be worth you signed up for the free trail, plough through a the training video's then analysis yours and your competitors sites/links. And then increase the number/quality of your links to more then they have.
So you're telling the OP to get more traffic in order to rank at the top? Traffic has nothing to do with SERP. He's right. They have an older site than you do. In your case, I would've built a lot more backlinks and published more content. Then I would just wait...
