in my new directory people submitted in free listing. none used the reciprocal linking. nobody even bothered about the featured links. but i see lots of paid directories with listings. what does it have for a person to list in paid listing. is there something missing in my directory?
Hi, Get yourself a nice template (free ones are available on the site in my siggy). Install some phpLD mods (you can read all about that in my blog). Then, promote, promote, promote your dir until it has high traffic and backlinks. Best of luck and stick with it.
I dont think there is a magic formular. Pottential submitters will choose featured listings naturally if they feel it is woth the review fee asked. All you need to do is to create a unique, & beautiful directory and promote it carefully.
You have to offer something unique in your directory if you expect people to submit a featured link. Promotion is the key, and also consider reviewing the approved links submitted to your directory from time-to-time, rewrite the descriptions if you find it necessary to do so.
Design + promotion is the key to getting featured links on your site. Also get some good mods like the deeplinks, feature this category mod etc which really sell very well these days.
Yep, everyone above has some good ideas. Also make sure your prices are a good value. If you offer lots of value folks will pay a bit of cash to get listed. One of the biggest problems with free directories is that it is very hard to get people to part with any amount of money when there is a free option.
