I got a video site, and I have tried to get users to engaged more i.e. post comment in those video, for instance,. do you have remedy for this?
Does this work : Make some errors in the title or content, the visitors who point it out for you , has chance to win a free gift ?
that's ONE real interesting concept. The "chinese" people tend to out perform the rest in creativity eh ??
Why not say the best post will win a best gift too also along with it you can say interesting post will win a reward, reward would be a suspense. People will be curious then.
Run a competition where the top 3 posters get some prize, or even some cash. Could help a little? Also, you could pay a couple of people to make comments, that will inspire others to comment too.
Try to create a poits incentive program, that is, people who comment a lot earn a lot of points and a lot of points enable them to get access to more valuable videos.
Get the users spend more time on the site; once they do that they will be more engaged anyways. Showing related content is one way to do that.
disable the need to create accounts to comment, I hate the create an account to comment BS and so do many others, I don't see the need for account creation everywhere we visit .... use a captcha instead. Create your own accounts to submit comments and even fight with yourself .... pay for some comments in BST section ?
Is your site a required log on usage? If so maybe you should consider making it easier for people to view and post without logging on.
you can try to give out a prize every month to the top contributor, that would make people want to post more
Post negative comments that are just over the top. Say bad things about videos you KNOW your visitors love. Then they will post to defend the videos, and a habit will form. For a quick poll we all must count ourselves: How did you first start commenting on youtube? I was defending someone. Then I got more involved
get more interesting content... and keep content coming in... you can't force people to want to be there
that's a good one. would you be interested to Join me?? hmmm, I prefer to have a proper control here. I need them to be accountable for their post. You may be right but still, I prefer to have control in that sense. And yes, I did get someone to comment in BST, still not many engagement yet.
Well, I am definitely open to more details, and certainly open to new relations People are suggesting you disable the need to register in order to post. I see your already have responded below your response to me, and I agree, the control is important, especially in new sites. It Helps to limit abuse. It may take a little longer to get a decent user base buzzing about your site, but the user base you DO get will be more likely to consist of higher quality members than those too lazy to sign up. One thing you could do is make your registration really easy. Maybe for a while you only ask for first name, email, confirm email, zip code, submit. That way you can push that as a feature to your visitors, so it's already in peoples' minds to join, and that it will be easy and fast to do so when they are ready. Hmm, I need to go see the site
I certainly will be watching this post carefully. This may be the most difficult thing to do in online marketing. You can have a site with high-volume traffic and still have an empty forum, or a blog with no comments. Bottom line is that it needs to be worth it for visitors. An incentive seems to be a smart suggestion. But I don't think purposely using incorrect spellings will get the positive attention your site deserves. Perhaps send reminders to users that this is an option. Or place it on the site: "don't forget to ...!" I find that the more controversial something is the better. Or if it can be helpful users seem to respond well.
