Looks like the blog http://www.johncow.com has had either a major awakening or a change in ownership and either way there are lots of cool things happening and the latest has really gotten my attention. We know contests work but what he is doing is making it so to enter in the contest you have to subscribe to his rss feed... which is not link building i know. But to get more tickets for the prizes you need to first of all "twitter" about the contest. The neat thing about that is people on twitter have followers and so it is like a pyramid... you tell two friends, who tell two friends and so on. The guys rss subscribers have doubled in week
ya, the cool thing about twitter is you just say what your doing... its so easy. you can even just feed your twitter with your rss feed and have it update when your blog updates... if you have a blog that it.
Twitter will die a slow death within a year...it's a really stupid program that just wastes time when you think about it and the A list bloggers will use it and get everyone else to use it until everyone gets annoyed and drops it....I remember when Blogrush was the next great thing now it's not even on the radar. I never understood why people want to raise their rss artificially either....these contests get people to sign up and after the contest most of them drop the rss....but I guess the numbers look pretty. It's one thing when you have something to offer but most people are doing it just because cow, chow, or rouse are doing it which is the exact opposite way to get noticed.
Oh, i dont agree with that... twitter has been around longer then blogrush and is interactive unlike blogrush
Its abit obvious though. Webmasters should do their research on succesful blogs (like john chow/cow) and see what they are doing. To start with they need a good user base (700+ uniques upwards) or else they fail.
