Thanks for the help in advanced all. How can I get my pages deindexed by google, yahoo and msn. I have a few sites that I want to move the content from them to one very large site.

I will still keep these old domains and add new content but I wish to move the content these have now over to our new site. I am trying to avoid a dup content penality. What is the process for doing this. Also if it means contacting google, yahoo and msn can you supply the contact emails please.

Just use 301 permanent redirects. Search the forum, all you need can be found from previous posts. I believe there is a sticky thread about them as well.

Yes but I want to continue to have these domains show up on their own. Once I remove this content from them I will be adding new content to those pages. Wont a 301 move those pages to the new website for good?

Well, then just cut the content off the old page and update the new page, preferably around the same time... Provide an ordinary HTML link from the old page (or somewhere else) to the new page so that Google can find it and index it. There's no magic involved :D

FWIW, in case you do need to use redirects for something, Yahoo has a useful overview of 301 vs 302.

Not sure exactly what you are asking, but if you keep the same content on two different sites, you will run the risk of a dupicate penalty. If you just want to move the current content to another site, do you want to have the current indexed pages direct to the new site?

You can't make the search engines deindex your site. You can do a 301 redirect on an entire site, directory, or individual page. That tells the search engines that you have moved the content to a new site and automatically forwards traffic to the new url. Once the search engines figure out you have moved the content, they will start to remove the pages from their index but it is a process that can take many months. Yahoo states that the old urls may never be removed their index - although it has been my experience that they will, but it may take as long as a year.

You aren't going to get a duplicate penalty based on what is showing in the search engine results. You need to have live pages that are the same.

That's NEW content. Duplication is not an issue here.

Thank you all. I think I understand now that if I just move the content from the old sites to the new large site it wont hurt me as long as I add new content to the old pages I removed the content from...wow that is a mouth full...LOL.

I just wasnt sure that if those pages were cached and indexed that if I removed them and took them to the new site that the search engines might see that as dup content and penalize me but I now understand from your comments that this wont happen...thanks again.
