My Website's newsletter is nothing but official updates of an Examination i.e.. last dates, Course notification etc...

I tested sending a test mail with original content to my test email id and the Newsletter went straight to spam box.

Is there a way around this? I mean any content or technical guidelines?

Always do a double opt-in for people registering. This can avoid a lot of the problems with spam blockers as you are first, certain that they want to receive your emails, and second, can place a notice to the subscriber in the opt-in that they should make sure they mark your confirmation message as "Not Spam" if they found the confirmation in the Spam folder. Bottom line, if someone is signing up because they want to get your emails and know they need to confirm via email, you can explain in at signup and on the confirmation email that they may need to mark you as not spam and add your newsletter email address to their address book. Make sure to always provide a link at the bottom of every email where someone can unsubscribe also.

Get a dedicated IP if you are running a script on your hosting account so you don't get penalized because of others that share the same IP and spam. If you are using a newsletter service, first contact them to see what they say about it, then shop around a bit to try and find a newsletter service if you are unhappy with the answer you get from your current one.

Why would you want to bypass spam blockers? You need customers that will buy from you. People that use spam blockers are SELDOM good customer material, so it makes more sense to me to direct your efforts towards those people that will buy from you.

You need to be targeting people that is willing to accept your newsletters. This must be your concern not how to pass spam blockers.
