Hello, I have a 3 months old dating site. I transfer from an 18 months old dating site to this site. Should I use htaccess 301 to redirect from the old site to this new site? or Should I create a link from the old site so users can click on it to go to the new site? What method is better?
301 the old website to the new website..... this will help. Also... if you need to get some inner pages indexed the best thing for that is build some quality links. .
Well, is an interested question because a lot of people try be index fast in google, but normally don't dedicate time to create good links, what you have to do is pay attention and focus on details, like good links..
If you have duplicated the content from the old site to the new site, then using 301 to direct your visitors to the new site is the best option... but if you have completely different content on both the sites and intend to pursue with both of them at the same time... I guess placing a link on the old site would be helpful. Regards, RightMan
I didnt know that google picks up redirections. Me was told that google doesnt allow redirected domains to be listed.
just pick much backlink to your site, it helps i have not understood what are you talking about .httaccess sory
Another thing you could do that I'm not sure many people think about is to go to archive.org and look at your old site. Look at all the pages and start clicking links to pages etc. etc. If any are dead you need to do a 310 re-direct on those as well. Oh yeah and social bookmarking got a brand new domain of mine indexed and ranked on the first page of Google in 4 days.
From my experience of launching websites lately, building quality back links isn't helping all that much. My sites are still taking several weeks to get indexed no matter what I do. There seems to be one heck of a backlog going on at the moment. But...oh well. Nothing we can do about it other than just staying patient.
301 is absolutely a good idea. Above all you have to gather more backlinks for your site and continue to bookmark all the pages in most of the sites available on the net.
I hope you are also using Google Webmaster Tool to submit your sitemap. It will index you web pages very fast.
