"how can I get more work?" is a very general question and it makes me wonder if you know anything about marketing at all. I'll start by assuming you can speak to people about your business and suggest you begin by soliciting your local business. If you live in a poor area this may be more difficult. You should be able to "close" roughly 300% more business owners you meet face-to-face (compared to those you speak with - consultative selling - on the phone). I consult with local business to help them succeed on the internet. It can be lucrative and rewarding but the critical factor that determines success is the ability to sell your services. If you are coming from a technical background as many SEO people do selling may not come naturally to you. Sales traing is in order. I suggest "Close The Deal" by David Sandler, published by Nightingale-Conant. Also "Cash Copy" and "Money-Making Marketing" by Jeffrey Lant are among the best books on the market for comprehensive (ie. the author assumes you know nothing about marketing and takes you to an advanced level of doing things from a standing start) and cost- effective ways to get more customers and sell more to them.
