Twitter is a great way to attract traffic. Also the social bookmarking sites like delicious, digg, reddit etc will drive in good numbers.
All the above are great ways to get traffic but there is no quick way. This all takes time and hard work to get the proper traffic.
You should try to get more direct and reciprocal links. You can do this by getting a seo tool to automate the reciprocal linking and by buying text ad on sites with high traffic.

Traffic and Link building are different. Link building is easier(comparative) than Traffic driving. Its easy for any site add your site along with other sites while submitting for page rank consideration but making some one to visit your website is very difficult.
Its hard work getting more QUALITY traffic to your site. There is no one simple answer I don't think. You could always pay some Search engine optimisation or website traffic builder service to help you. How good they are I dont know though. ive tried one and it was a waste of money in the end as it didn't work.
Make sure to make some post with long term keywords to try to get more traffic. Find uniche terms that get traffic and have less sites listed in search engines. Work on getting links to site and seo of site.
