My suggestion is to open account on various video hositng sites and post videos on website search engine optimization. Matt Cutts, who works for google post videos on youtube about google, and his videos gets a lot of views. So why not do something like what Matt has done. Start channels on metacafe, dailymotion, youtube, yahoo video, vimeo, veoh, break,,,, and start posting videos.
Continue to post quality content on your site. Make it unique and your own. People will come. Don't expect to make big bucks right away. A good blog takes time to build. Build a community around you and you will be successful.

One more thing, I forgot to add... Even if you don't use "methods" for building traffic, if you just focus on the following 2 items, you WILL get a LOT of traffic. Focus on QUALITY CONTENT--is it memorable? Is it helpful? Will people pass it along? Focus on RELATIONSHIPS--interact with your readers, establish a cult following, network with other blogs.
I have recently found that offline advertising is a very untapped market, as most focus traffic building on online resources. Give offlining a try (business cards, rent a billboard, who knows...)

If you can leverage the purchased traffic into sales, it is the best way for you. For blogs I would suggest good SEO, allow aggregation with link to you.. if you have interesting content and more less frequent updates, I am sure you will build a nice readers' base after a while
One idea is to create contest that gives away a really great prize, such as a laptop, IPOD, etc. Require people subscribe to your email updates or feed to enter. Advertise the contest for free on blog contest websites...
