Hello all, thanks for the warm welcome into the community. Just wondering, for creating your sites, what did you find was the most effective way to build a large forum community. I am not having a problem getting people onto my site, just no one sticking around for discussion in the forums. I've set up a draw, giving moderator positions, etc. Any advice is good advice at this point. Thanks in advance, Rohin
It's easy. Created a 'hot topic'. Example: If your site is about Linux, create a thread about 'Why Microsoft is better than Linux?' This will create a flame, and the followers will defend their best OS. : )
Yeah, I've done that. I'm giving away Zunes to 10 people, all they need to do is post in the forums and they're entered. Secondly, I have created discussion boards of zune vs ipod, etc. We'll see how it goes. I've only had the site open for 10 days.
people will only stay in a forum if there is a reason for them to stay... 1. does you forum have specialist knowledge/members on certain topics? 2. does your forum provide something that members need to come back to? e.g. tools, fun, etc.
Another aspect on which you need to concentrate on is new threads and posts being posted at regular intervals. Updated posts and new threads attract the attention of the visitors and prompt him/her to join the conversation and post his/her views.
