Hello everybody. I have searched for a long time to find followers on twitter but no luck. I have seen people with over 1000 followers having a rave on twitter. What do you think? Got any ideas?
Start following and exchanging with people with similar interest. Always include hash tags with your tweets (ex. #seo). RT mentions from people you follow. Be nice to people as you would be in real life, and success will come

We have a Wordpress blog and blog about interesting industry stuff. Our blog entries are pulled into our Twitter profile causing interesting tweets. Have a couple of good tweets before adding people. After blogging / tweeting, go and follow more people. We have close to 70% success rate with this. About 700 of every 1000 follow requests accept.
First of all, make sure that your tweets are useful for some peoples. Then make the first step and follow them (search for peoples on your niche) and they will most likely follow you.

Make sure your tweets are interesting. Don't share affiliate links on your first 50 tweets. Search for people doing about the same thing you do and start following them. If one sends you a message, reply back. Give the impression someone's behind the weel. Retweet other people's tweets. If your other tweets are interesting, they'll respond/retweet yours. Look over one guy account, see who listed him and start following those. Tweet every day. Try keeping a balance between your following and followers. Don't follow more than 20 others a day. Give it a month, it'll get you somewhere.

I do not think we could get lots of twitter followers quickly if we just tweet and be nice to people but it is worth to have only real honest followers that are waiting for your tweet even got just 50 followers.

Honestly its a lot of what everyone said above and tools. Content is key and automation is also what drives traffic and gets you quality followeers
Out of curiosity, Harry, what is that you want to use Twitter for? It's easier for people who have an established online brand to link to their Twitter and get followers. If you're not established enough, it's a long process though it's more important to have 50 followers that care about you than 500 who followed you just because you followed them.
If you want more followers, your profile should be full and interested. Then you have to follow more people and do tweets regularly not in bulk do slowly but regularly. Good Luck
