Hey guys I've had a blog (2500mhz.info) for a couple months now, and well, I'm not getting any comments at all. I've set it so anonymous users can post comments and I'm getting some traffic but no comments. I'd like to know what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong, and just getting some feedback from my users. (Yes, maybe now and then my blog isnt interesting). Anyways, how do I encourage users to post comments? Thanks
I just give my opinion : - Try to Comment on other blog, - make your Blog is Do Follow blog - I Can't see read more navigation in your blog
You can change setting of the author links for commenting to "dofollow", and it will attract webmasters to post comments to your blog.
Here are a few ideas: -- Install the commentluv plugin; -- As others have said, make your blog dofollow; -- Comment on other blogs in your niche regularly; -- Post regularly (daily if you can); -- Always try to follow up on comments; -- Round off your posts with an open ended question;
Just curious, why do you want to have comments on your blog? I would rather have 1,000 visitors a day without a single comment, rather than 200 visitors a day and each of them will leave a comment. How can you make money from comments, by the way? But I don't want to spoil your question. So here is the great post from Daniel Scocco of Daily Blog Tips - http://www.dailyblogtips.com/qa-why-my-blog-gets-no-comments/ Hope that helps.
If you get comments on your blog, thats new fresh content which you didn't have to wrtite which helps imprve your position in the search engines. It also engages the reader and gets people to participate in the discussion, building a relationship and trust which can in turn make you more popular in your market. To the OP, you could pay some people to post (just a few cents per post) to promote a conversation. You could offer $25 for the best comment on a post or randomly select a post to win (basically run a competition). You could talk about a hot topic or something controversial that many people are talking about or want to talk about.
It's nice to have comments for several reasons. It is proof that your content has hit home to someone, that is has actually reached someone who wanted to tread it and felt sufficiently engaged to comment. This can be rewarding and provide encouragement to keep blogging or redouble your efforts. Why would you want just to have visitors to your blog with no real interaction via commenting? To me, a blog is a social vehicle too and interaction is a central part of the process of blogging.
Well, I agree with the comments as a proof that your contents are interesting, and the blogs becomes more sociable. Unfortunately, most bloggers are getting more sociable rather than money makers. Yes, comments are rewarding and can inspire us more. But isn't it nicer that visitors will buy the product that you sell instead of leaving a comment? There are tons of blogs around making good money but not getting a single comment. In fact, some of them even disable it since it distracts them somehow. Not unless if you are not into affiliate marketing, say just selling ad space on your blog or using Google Adsense.
I agree there is a distinction between those in it for a quick buck, and others. Comments make no difference if your blog is run simply as a way to get paid ads out there.
you need to participate in the discussion, the best analogy is if youare at a party you will not just sit in a corner holding a sign saying i have lots of interesting things to say, you will get involved in the party... the same applies for blogs, you need to get out there and be involved in the discussion otherwise people will not know that you exist...
Well as a blogger I would love to see comments coming for each of my post. Its shows that post is popular and peoples like what you are doing. But even if you dont have comments it doesnt mean that your blog is lacking on something. There are so many good blogs who dont have too many comments but still have high PR and are making good money with their blog. You may try this techniqe, it will surely make your visitors to leave comments: 1) Make your post title controversial. 2) Make post length less, but full of great value resources. 3) Make list of services with outgoing links useful for readers. For example make list of blogs with do follow links. Your visitors will stay longer clicking all the links and in a process will leave a comment for you. 4) Install Commentluv plugin 5) Let your reader know that your blog is do follow. 6) Leave a line at the end of every post inviting readers to leave comments 7) Leave comments on other blogs. 8) Hold a contest. Person who leaves a best comment or idea will have some special prize like a ebook etc. 9) Make sure all outgoing links opens in new window Good luck.
You hit it right, man. The term popular is mostly being misunderstood since bloggers thought that popularity to commentators can make them money. Well, yes it is but only if you're trying to make money by selling ad space on your blog or you are collecting emails to build an email list. The latter is only applicable if you have your own product to sell. By the way, Seth Godin and Steve Pavlina disabled their comment section but they are icons in their respective fields. I don't disable mine though, but I rarely reply on them not unless they are asking a relevant and sensible question or their comments are really useful, and not a fancy Thanks for sharing...
To answer the original question... In my experience one of the best ways to get comments is to leave thoughtful comments on blogs related to your own topic. This means leaving a comment based on their post and not just including your link.
Comments shows other people that the blog in engaging...and if it is then people will leave comments. If it's boring then... Comments will atract more visitors too...some people like to discuss and/or watch the discussions.
First make your blog dofollow and clearly state that on your blog. Next, create your blog posts so they ask questions that encourage people to post their opinion. Good luck
Yes, I agree with the attraction. Comments will attract more visitors to also leave comments, but not to make you money. I think most bloggers are confused with the term visitor. It is someone who goes to your blog because he was looking for something valuable to him. If he already gets what he wants, he may not want to leave a comment or even come not back again. But it's fine because you already made money from him. You now will look for another visitor, as you can hardly make money from a second time visitor. If you want more comments on your blogs then you are looking for readers, not visitors. If the reader finds your posts attractive, then he will leave a comment. I just don't know how you will relate comments to make money. Not unless you are building an email list, but that will take you time. However, most bloggers forget their main purpose why they created a blog - to make money. If these bloggers will focus on getting more comments rather than convincing potential customers to buy a product, then he should NOT be selling a product or using Google Adsense. But again, most bloggers tend to be more sociable rather than being business minded. They think they can replicate what the top bloggers like Darren Rowse has been doing - selling ad space. They don't realize how much traffic and reputation they need to get the finest advertisers in town. They don't want to sell anything because they are more inclined in talking. They don't want to sell because they are afraid visitors will not read their post, and will not leave a comment. Well, it really boils to your reason why you blog - to gain friends or to make money? Friends cannot always be your business partners or customers, but business partners and customers can always be your friends, as along as both of you are getting what they want. One should know how to separate business from personal. Sometimes, you cannot do two things at the same time....
Try to raise a question or poll on some interesting topics like updating sports events... then ping it to search engines and other social bookmarking sites... This would be great soultion for your problem..
Guardian Angel, You have to realize that in order for someone to make a comment with fresh information that challenges your opinion or adds something genuinely new to the conversation, they must spend a good deal of time. If you don't even reply to comments, then why would they spend so much time adding to a conversation that you don't even participate in? I think that even if someone posts a fancy "Thanks for sharing..." comment, it is still worth YOUR time to dig into their blog and/or start a conversation in the comments with that person. You have to give them motivation to get involved, as it takes a lot of time to make a quality comment.
