    hi all

i would like to get some inputs from you guys to acheive an extra 500 targetted visitors/day.

My assumption is 1% conversion. so i would earn more 5 orders /day.

I am not looking at Pay-Per-Clilck. Mainly for marketing strategy/idea that effectively attract targetted visitors.

I am thinking about giving some thing FREE that is an added value to my targetted visitors. for example, I will give a FREE ring for jewelry site. visitors require to sign up my newsletter and the giveaway runs weekly.

this is what i have in mind.

I would love to hear from you all:) especially tactics/techniques that work.

hope to hear from you all.
    jim

But even writing articles will not drive traffic. You need to know where to place those articles etc.... I have not written any yet, but I am working on one for Bob and I will see if he will publish it. Then I will know if the return is there.

I am interested in hearing the responses to this thread as well.

Well I get traffic from it :)

The best source of traffic I have found is affiliate schemes.

I have not put too much effort into these but I have found 2 companies that are complementary (I have not really chucked it out to all and sundry). These guys probably generate 100 v/day for me so it's a start and I know if I put the effort in there would be more. I also offered 50% commission and that's a reason why they like it so much.

An offer in your signature on related forums will also work - see all the "free link to new directory" links - who signed up to those then ?

I would agree that joining appropriate forums and actively contributing (with a site link in your signature, of course) is an excellent traffic builder.

I've not had much luck with affiliates driving traffic. So much depends on what kind of services or products you are selling. If you are doing the Get-rich-quick schemes or those crazy Internet marketing e-Books, then I guess you flood the FFAs and Host your own ... like so many do. Personally, I think that whole marketing arena is a waste of bandwidth, but lots of people do it.

i have no luck on affiiate myself. since my margin is not allowing me to offer attractive commission.

writing articles - i did try too. i simply get some links & some traffics but not 500 visitors.

having signature surely help but still not quite that effective yet.

any more inputs are really appreciated.

I have different strategy aside from listing on directories, search engine and participating in forums. I offer FREE software. Since I am a coder I can do it regularly. My visitors keep coming back and get their friends to visit.

lol if only we all knew the answer to this question. I've painstakingly built my self from 120 uniques per day to 250 uniques per day in six months. The single biggest increase in traffic is probably from forum signatures and a big increase in SERPS for relevant keywords. The SERPS increases probably account for 70% of the increase.

There are three ways to increase your search engine traffic:

    1. Create more content
    2. On Page optimization
    3. Off-page optimization

All other things being equal, the more content you have, the more visitors you will get. Of course, this can be the hardest road to walk.

On-page optimization is designing your web pages to achieve the best ratings from the search engines. On-page optimization activites include things like:

    • Writing keyword-rich text
    • Using keywork rich H1, H2, and H3 tags
    • Applying good ALT attributes to images
    • Making sure that the web page can be properly "spidered" by all of the search engines

Off-page optimization consists of creating inbound links to your web page.

To increase the number of inbound links to your web site, read How do I get links to my website?

Can you please provide some more information on using keywork rich H1, H2, and H3 tags? Thanks!

You could always post a rather cool piccy of your jewelry (and not much else) somewhere, then announce it to slashdot ;)

Of course, according to Brett Tabke you could also..

    Use your targeted keyword phrase:
    · In META keywords. It's not necessary for Google, but a good habit. Keep your META
keywords short (128 characters max, or 10).
    · In META description. Keep keyword close to the left but in a full sentence.
    · In the title at the far left but possibly not as the first word.
    · In the top portion of the page in first sentence of first full bodied paragraph (plain text: no
    bold, no italic, no style).
    · In an H3 or larger heading.
    · In bold—second paragraph if possible and anywhere but the first usage on page.
    · In italic—anywhere but the first usage.
    · In subscript/superscript.
    · In URL (directory name, filename, or domain name). Do not duplicate the keyword in the
    URL.
    · In an image filename used on the page.
    · In ALT tag of that previous image mentioned.
    · In the title attribute of that image.
    · In link text to another site.
    · In an internal link's text.
    · In title attribute of all links targeted in and out of page.
    · In the filename of your external CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) or JavaScript file.
    · In an inbound link on site (preferably from your home page).
    · In an inbound link from off site (if possible).
    · In a link to a site that has a PageRank of 8 or better.

Other search engine optimization things to consider include:

    · Use "last modified" headers if you can.
    · Validate that HTML. Some feel Google's parser has become stricter at parsing instead of
milder. It will miss an entire page because of a few simple errors—we have tested this in
    depth.
    · Use an HTML template throughout your site. Google can spot the template and parse it
off. (Of course, this also means they are pretty good a spotting duplicate content.)
    · Keep the page as .html or .htm extension. Any dynamic extension is a risk.
    · Keep the HTML below 20K. 5-15K is the ideal range.
    · Keep the ratio of text to HTML very high. Text should out weight HTML by significant
    amounts.
    · Use only raw HREFs for links. Keep JavaScript far, far away from links. The simpler the
    link code the better.
    · Don't assume that keywords in your site's navigation template will be worth anything at
all. Google looks for full sentences and paragraphs. Keywords just laying around
orphaned on the page are not worth as much as when used in a sentence.

well, i agree that if we all give some things free as an added value to targetted visitors. they surely will come back such as shawn's awesome keyword tracking tools & all.

    i will follow this approach.

about SEO job/content ,a must do of course. feel free to drop more inputs...still nothing is new here:)

    appreciated all comments/feedbacks anyway.

First page results (and even more so PPC but unfortunately you're not interested) are the killer solutions. You can get a site off the ground within a day with PPC and within months being high in the natural listings. So do the SEO work and you'll see increases in visitors!

This industry is unique: I worked behind a sales counter selling diamonds and the lot for 5 years while going through uni.

Some things that turned a lot of dollars for me are:

People are looking for a symbol rather than a bargin (symbol of love / excess / style).
The percieved value of a brand is very valuable (utalise tha brand names of your suppliers (e.g. de beers).

I believe you could easily position yourself with some mainstreem print media articles with a simple angel like 'online sales suprise very traditional off-line industry.'

I'd also look at using ebay.

I'd also look at seo for internal pages on minor terms as reported by wordtracker / yahoo. You would be suprised what you can compete on easily and pick up good traffic with.

For added search power I would start a few news blogs (not targeted at readers) and scrap media articles (not included in duplicate content rules) with text links to your internal product pages and a few other sites.

Whatever you do though, images are very important - product images and related symbol images. Don't devalue or lower the class of your business with cheep tricks.

    Other points:
    People buy benefits not features
People will be very loyal to a good supplier
People feel vulnerable through lack of information / understanding (solve that)
    Testimonials are sooooooo important

Most important point: come out from behind your site and make sure they feel they are dealing with a person.

    Hope this helps,

    Dominic

thanks for all inputs:) Dominic ==> great post..thanks again.

btw, i am using Pay-Per-Click right now and also do SEO. As we know SEO is time consuming and the process takes time. I am not there yet.

I wish this forum can give us some "EXTRA strategies" to add "Extra 500 visitors/day" on top of pay-per-click and SERP traffics.

    -Some go with Affiliate
-Some go with giving away some things such as ebooks about the products, free sample, free product giveaway
    -Some go with email marketing
-Some go with pop up ad
-Some go with forum posting ( signarture )
-Some go with SBI ( buidling unique/value content and send traffic to their own site )
    -Some go with MLM
    -Some go with Comparision/Shopping network ( Pay-Per-Click still )
    -Some go with Directory placement

I am pretty new with all these but simply read a lot from forums and all.

Wish to keep learning and truly get very useful from this forums and others.

Wish to hear and learn more:) we 've never known , there might be other killiing strategies out there we are missing:)

    thanks jim.

    Jim,

I could help you more if I knew exactly what you are selling, at what price and why your margins are "not high enough". What's the URL of the site that needs the traffic?
