Try checking out people's MySpace pages and also Facebook. People often post their political backgrounds there.
Go around to other similar blogs and/or forums (at least with polictical subforums) and make controversial comments. And leave your link, of course. I have blogs where I'd get 20 visits/day and then if I wrote something controversial, I'd get like 200-1000 visits.
MTbiker makes a good point - controversy will definitely help you on a political forum. Just set up a few fake accounts and use them to make highly controversial claims towards all areas of the political spectrum. This way it keeps you as the "peacekeeper" a bit as the admin, but ignites a bit of a fire in the forum.
Advertise in other political forums? Write political articles and distribute them, try to get them on digg... reddit. etc.
