There are hundreds of threads on this forum discussing this if only you could be bothered to search and read, but no we have yet another pointless thread asking the same old crap.
    1. You submit your site ONCE then forget it, someday over the next 30 years or so an editor will review your submission and throw it in the bin because your site is crap.
    2. you submitted your site TWICE so forget it and move on, there is NO benefit to being listed there anyway.

Why do you want to get listed there? Is it because an "SEO master plan spam guide" from 10 years ago states to do it? If you really, really want to get listed in a directory, then a niche or business one (as some business directories do get used) would be of more benefit in terms of traffic.

By submitting twice, you've probably guaranteed you will never get listed (you probably wouldn't have if you had submitted once anyway). Self-defeating. I suggest you do some learning before you continue marketing your site and making more mistakes.

Okay, I agree with what people are saying to this person who could possibly be a spammer, and I don't mean any disrespect by what I'm about to say. It's just...I believe in teaching people using a positive tone versus such a negative "shame on you" kind of tone. The reason why is not everyone knows better. They might not even realize what they are doing is spam and they need to be kindly told, not harshly told. I don't want to offend anyone, but I just want to say my piece about how we talk to one another.

Each to their own. You are entitled to your opinion, just as I am (and your post doesn't change my view).

The trouble is if he had read the DMOZ submission guidelines (especially the bit about submitting only once) or even spent just a couple of minutes reading all the other threads on this forum regarding the subject he would have known and wouldn't have needed to start this pointless thread.
What's the point in pussyfooting around? at least he knows now.

You really should have read around on here first. But having had answers from non-DMOZ editors which contain both fact and severe fiction. Thought I would set the record staright.

It can take from a few days to a few years for a site to get a review for a possible listing. That is because editors work in their spare time and have to volunteer to edit in the section where you have made the suggestion and have to want to use suggestions as their data source, editors can simply use their own sources if they wish. Mainly because some sections of the directory have hundreds of spam suggestions and reviewing such areas of suggestions is a bit like walking through treacle.

Yes you did say you had read the guidelines when you suggested the site (you have to say that or the site would not have been accepted) and that would have told you to only suggest once though suggesting twice, if that is all you have done, is unlikely to get you banned, but repeated suggestions opens up that possibility.

Only once have sites been lost that have been suggested and that was in the great DMOZ crash many years ago. Otherwise suggested sites are not lost they simply wait in the pool until that editor volunteers as I have said above. But DMOZ is not a listing service, it does not undertake to review suggestions or use suggestions in any timescale that would be acceptable to owners, simply that some day when an editor volunteers it will be reviewed. Try to understand that DMOZ is not interested in giving value to sites, and editors are only in indulging their hobby of collecting and collating data in a way that surfers might want to use to search the net.

One posters described your site badly, I have not looked at it, so I will not comment. But with forums we look for some good usage and not a couple of posts. It is one of the exceptions that we do not list if they are new or low usage, for most sites age is not a factor that DMOZ considers.

You can offer to be an editor, there is a test that you must pass and you can list your own sites, so long as you treat them the same as any competitors site and not give them ANY preferential treatment. That includes asking other editors to review them and list them in sections you do not edit in. Many of the editors on here, including myself, have been editors for many years and obviously enjoy doing the work we do. If you want to join us, press the "volunteer to be an editor" button on most pages and instructions of what to do are there. One big tip, few of us passed first or second attempt!!

True, unless you are ready to pay $50 to an editor which in this case will be less than 10 days to be listed. ;):)

Have you seen the forum in question? ..supposing he could find someone to pay to list it in DMOZ, he would need to pay way more than that

@OP you have a lot of work to do on that forum before trying to get it listed somewhere.. really, a lot.

Have you seen the offers on freelance sites from DMOZ editors? Any sh*t can be listed in DMOZ for a couple of bucks. ;):)
How can it be worse than many other worthless sites that editors listed and use to market their gambling, pharmacy and porn sites?

I have the capability of being direct and honest with people while yet using tact. Every one of us has made mistakes and we all need to remember where we came from when we try to advise others. Did you see how many categories of forums there are on here? I myself have searched for items and couldn't find them. No one wants to be treated like they are "stupid." That's just not right. In fact, this seems to happen alot in forums I join. The veteran members want to make the newer people feel less welcome. It's just not right. There's a way to teach people without putting them down.

But I should also add it's not everyone on this thread...just a few...

Some of the people have left suggestions that are of a far less condescending tone than do some of the people who have responded to this thread.

As far as this type of listing in general...

I would be very wary about even doing it in the first place if I were to be associated with bad site neighborhoods as a result.

The ODP is a large organisation . It is easy to be misled and it is easy to have a opinion like gworld .
IF you wish to get listed , submit according to the guidelines . You can pay bribe to a US Senator or an Indian Politician or a XYZ person it does not matter - it only depends on what YOU as a person wish to do.

Let me explain for you, you are a newb here..no problem we were all newbs here at some stage but when you've been here a few years you get to realise straight away what is a pointless spam post and what is a useful post, click the OP's username and have a look at when he was last here..exactly the same time he posted this thread, now if he was desperate to find out why his site hasn't been listed in DMOZ yet he would have been back to check the thread to see if there were any replies..the ONLY reason he posted this was to drop a link to his crap forum in some misguided belief it would drive some traffic to it..he was wrong it's just as dead as it was before.
Now you have options if you don't like what i post, look to the left, you see that bears ass..click it and when that popup appears, click the *ignore* link and you'll never need to read my posts again.

Yep it can take from a few weeks to a few years for a review. But you submitted twice, was that after you agreed you had read T & C's which say
