    Hi,

Well make sure you read the guidelines and comply with all of them. Double check to be safe. You can also post your site on forums to get feedback on whether your site qualifies before actually submitting to DMOZ.

PR does not matter...if its a PR 0 and a brand new page with valuable unique content, I'm sure an editor will not decline it just because its PR 0.

I'm not an actualy DMOZ editor, but I'm pretty sure they're looking for sites with lots of valuable content and what will give you an edge is if its unique new fresh content.

if you think you have a good quality website then go for it. But you dont really need dmoz if you said you have a quality website. :)

Well, considering that DMOZ is DEAD ... I don't know how you might get listed there.

Follow the guidelines, insure the site is listable, find the single best category to suggest the URL too, and provide a compliant Title/Description. That is really all you can do. And as much as it kills some people, DMOZ is very much alive.

Seemingly, the only way to get listed is the luck of the draw...I've seen post after post in here, as well as over at Resource Zone with people claiming to have "quality sites" that have been waiting years...yet when I use DMOZ to actually look for a site, I keep tripping over defunct Geocities pages and closed-to-the-public yahoo groups... so IMHO, there is no sure fired way to say if you will be listed...

Just submit & cross your fingers.

My site is over ten years old and I never actually requested to be listed in DMOZ. But I guess they just picked it up.

I do have a question though. What is the, hmmmm for lack of better words, "big deal" of being listed in DMOZ? Don't get me wrong either. I don't mind the listing, I just don't understand the whole thing.....

If you have an editor ("friend") you might be able to add your site to dmoz.

Quality? It is true there are quality websites, but there are poor quality websites also and many of them.

Dmoz is not dead - Dmoz is dead if you are talking about quality websites.

Just visit this directory and spend a few hours or minutes and you will see for yourself what I'm talking about.

Submit your websites and don't worry about it.

Everyone thinks that about their websites, its just our nature. But before getting hopes high some small review prior to submission can help you a great deal.

    Cheers

Why do people put some much time, effort and sweat into worrying about getting listed in DMOZ. Its quite simple, submit your site for inclusion and then forget about it. If your listed in 1-6 months, fantastic, well done. If not just sit around and wait... fingers crossed within 2 years you'll get listed.

Obviously if your submitting to a category with a good editor or a category that isn't that popular then this will greatly improve your time period chances. At the end of the day theres no point in losing sleep over when or whether your site is going to get listed in DMOZ.

Just read their guidelines and then submit your site, taking the time to write a good description that is not full of hype.

Then forget about it. There aren't any short cuts or special people that I am aware of that will guarantee you a listing or that your site will be reviewed by an editor. There are too many sites awaiting review with too few editors who all volunteer their time, so it just depends on how lucky you are when or if you get listed.

Once you have submitted your site you should spend your time building other links to the site. One good way is to write articles and submit them to the article directories. This will not help you get listed in DMOZ but will help your pr rank, which is what I assume is your main concern.

You have to just wait, wait and wait.

You also need to get a lucky break after 4 or 5 years of time. :D

I've been waiting 2+ years. I even offered multiple times to manage the section even and they said to start by managing a small section and "move my way up".

So if you really wanted you can start by editing for them on widgets in SE Istanbul then after a few years....sigh.

Thousands get listed every month (other than during the server crash hiatus).

You can check by comparing a couple of the DMOZ RDF download files a month apart.

Asking here may get no replies as this is not a forum much frequented by those who are listed in DMOZ, only those not or not yet.
