2) Post only article related to your niche, and with your long tail keywords as anchor texts.
3) Be sure to ping your guest posts so they appears on Google.
4) Don't post on sites with too much guest posts.
5) Post "how-to" and listicles articles for your guest posts.
6) Diversify your link anchors.
7) Don't post more than 3 links per article.

You forgot to mention ONLY IF, both sites have 5k - 10k of content pages and want to exchange/link out. But a bunch of one way links for free? - I seriously doubt it, even with strong stats, as with anything decent, they will charge fees for placement. Think about it, if I own a site with 1M in traffic, what's in it for me if I give adverts for nothing.
