How to get links from high authority sites?

In order to get some major exposure to my site, I need to get some links from some high authority sites. The content is high quality, well laid out, etc. I just am not on the radar of any of the major players.

Getting links from directories, article directories, social bookmarking, etc. just isn't cutting it. I need to get linked to from some of the big guys; guys that may be considered either competitors or closely related. What do I do to get these high quality links?

First make a list of high authority sites related to your site niche. As your saying that your site content is good, you contact the webmaster of the authority sites. chances are more for the authority sites to link your site if your site content is good.

Whats the best way to contact them?
I would hate to send a spammy sounding email, rub them the wrong way, and ruin the relationship.

It depends on how we communicate with them. Just deal them carefully. Everything will go smooth.

Offer them free content is a good way, the other is to buy links on .gov and edu sites but this could be costly.

Make a list of some high quality sites with high PR, then check to see if the links that they provide are Dofollow or not. That being done, just spread your links to a number of different link submission sites such as article posting, forum posting, blog posting and Social Media. The more natural and quality it has, the more it will benefit you.
