It is believed that getting links from authority sites can improve search engine rankings, and maybe help you out of the sandbox fast, but how do you get links from them? How do I know if the website is an Authority Site? Do you know any sites that are Authoritative and the ways to get backlinks from them?
More than likely would have to pay for them (unlikely they would agree to this), unless you have content which they would want to use on their site from yours... Think of authority sites as big websites with a huge collection of content such as Rottentomatoes, Wikipedia, and even Google itself. As authorities in their own subjects they would need an extremely convincing reason to contemplate linking to "lesser" sites.
The best way of gaining quality links from an authority site is to make a quality blogs, content and have a good contact between any other user. Be effective and careful in making links.
well i say pay what they ask for, generally they ask simple. I did same and within two months got huge PR improvement, 0 to 3 to be more precise. You may check this offer i provide http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1070457
