How to get link credit on YouTube?

I'm new to YouTube.com (just found the site yesterday) and would like to link to some of the videos. It appears if you link to a video from your site, that YouTube recognizes it's source and give credit as "Websites that link to this video." Am I understanding this correctly?

For instance if I link to the video:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y1OjLp83U8w

will YouTube be able to track it to my site? I just want to make sure before begin linking and possibly lose out on any credit due.

    Thanks

I also want to mention that I know this link does not pass PR. I just would like a link back so the owner of the video knows I'm linking to the video.

Yeah. I added a youtube video to one of my sites, before I even saw that link list. Anyway, I saw that youtube.com page in my referrer stats. I think it is automatic once you have it on your page. It may have to do with people watching it too.

Just to clarify, I embded the video into my page with their code. I am not sure about just a link.

Anyway, seems like a great way to add content, links, and thus more visitors.

Has anyone just used the link and received visitors from that? So far it looks like you have to have the video embedded in your page, which I don't want to do.

I know this is an old thread but I can testify to the fact that you'll get very little if any traffic from those links.

I've embedded a lot of youtube videos on various sites which were viewed by tens of thousands of people (the were embedded on my site and I was the top 'who linked to this') and I only recieved 5-20 visitors from people that clicked on 'show who linked to this'.

Also, I'm positive that they don't count referrals for plain links to the video. If you want to be listed then you have to embed the video.
