    How so exactly?
Giving someone a like because you like their post is not like trading.
There's also far fewer threads in this area. 15,000 threads here vs. 200,000 in the design/development area. The average number of likes per post are definitely higher in Support/Support, but not the total. Gibberish/unintelligible posts are are far less prevalent in Support/Feedback area, so I would expect likes per post to be higher based on that.

Users are not using the like system as it was meant to be used. I see lots of sarcastic, pointless, useless etc posts getting liked, while lots of other posts that deserve a like does not get even one.
Of course not, but asking for help and like the replies is called like trading, at last that is what I got an infraction (3 points) for.
Thank you. Statistically talking if both section would have the same amount of posts the Support & Feedback would have far more likes than any other section in this forum.

Not every "like worthy" post is going to be liked... That was already taken into account... if that were the case, you would need something more like 50 likes.

As far as how likes are being used, they are being used exactly as expected. If we wanted to measure people just giving right answers/being purely helpful, it would be done with the Best Answer system, not Likes.

I think the '3 likes system' is a good idea and I understand why it's being used. The only problem with it being it is often hard to contribute a great deal when still a newb!

My problem is a of lack of current knowledge and experience of online marketing, but sure it'll be much easier to help with a little experience :)

You don't have to have vast online marketing knowledge to contribute here, all you need is a good personality a sense of humour and don't be shy about sharing your views...look at me, i know jack shit about online marketing but i have been known to speak my mind occasionly..;)

Haha good point. I'll try not be too shy about posting my views! Will just make sure that I check out the first couple of pages of the sub-forms to ensure that I'm not posting a load of garbage lol

I was worried first as well when I returned here after months of being away and found I couldn't post ads anymore. But the situation made me start looking around in other forums and I found so many useful posts as well as a ton of funny ones that I would have missed otherwise. Somehow I even managed to get one like today, so I know I will get to three soon :) I wish I could give likes myself, now that I appreciate it I would surely do it more often.

Just guessing, but I think being 'human' and 'real' is probably as important as having good technical info.

I'm on my own journey for how to get the three Likes so I look forward to reporting from my own results once I get there.

I think the price of entry on getting likes is 100% justified.

Imagine what the WarriorForum would be like if every WSO had to come with non-photoshopped proof!

    Scary.

Because your 3 likes must be from 3 different established members, your 4 likes are only from 2 different members

And both of those guys gave him the second like within a minute or two of the first one they gave him. Seems a unusual to me. Plus they are on old threads, but the likes are new. They look like BS likes to me.

I had used DP for years and had been a contributing member with a lot of reputations not only for posts on the marketing side of things (I have been a VP of Sales & Marketing in high tech for 20+ years) but also for many successful contests that I ran and paid for over the years. I came back recently to run yet another logo contest, and discovered that I no longer have any ranking to do so. It was kind of strange to me to be back at that point, but it is not the end of the world. I will get a logo designed elsewhere for now and have begun building up my presence in DP in the meantime.

This is a great forum and I regret not having had the time to participate more on it, recently, due to personal and business issues, but I will step up the effort now to change the situation. I have to admit to being bemused by the complaints of participants who do not wish to follow the rules on a free site like this. It may be a generational thing, but I see so many people these days who think that they are entitled to anything that they determine to be a "need" or even a "desire" and then whine and complain when they discover that no one is going to give them something for free.

I guess that the biggest source of amusement for me is that a lot of these folks are self-styled "entrepreneurs" who specifically come here to learn how to make money online or offline or to promote their business. Having been an entrepreneur involved with high tech start-ups my whole career, my advice is that you have to work hard and work smart to get anywhere in the business world. Complaining about unfairness or lack of results at anything, for that matter, will not get you anywhere. Suck it up and get to work.

Okay, now back to work for me, too.

Simple...make posts that people want to read instead of pointless 1 line spammy posts that are of no interest to anyone.

    Hi Again,
Just since my first post on this thread which was three days ago, I have been posting (on areas that I am knowledgeable about, of course) and I now have enough Likes to run my logo contest. I am going to make an effort to stay active on DP as it is too valuable to lose, quite frankly.

Yeah its a very cool system, I created my ac a year ago, at that time this was not the part of DP so there was alot of rubbish around and it was the reason I never looked back again but now , when I joined back yesterday , I saw changes and really liked them , Its the best step to stop spam and rubbish posts

Okay, probably my last post on this thread, but less than two months later, I have 30 likes. Of course, once I got to 3 Likes, it was "mission accomplished" because I could run contests so I did not work especially hard to get more. I do tend to stick to sections of the forum in which I know something and can occasionally help, but the next 27 came surprisingly quickly.

Could be because of my good looks...:)
